Driven by a commitment to advanced training, Dr. Alam pursued his residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Queens Hospital Center in New York, which he completed in 2000. His desire for further specialization led him to complete a fellowship in Infectious Disease at William Beaumont Hospital in 2002, where he refined his expertise in treating complex infectious diseases.
Dr. Alam is board-certified in both Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine, credentials that reflect his profound knowledge and clinical skill in these critical areas of healthcare. His professional affiliations include membership in the Infectious Disease Society of America. Dr. Alam is also a founding member of the Shandhani National Eye Donation Society of Bangladesh, a testament to his dedication to global healthcare and his commitment to improving access to medical resources in his home country.
In addition to his medical expertise, Dr. Alam currently serves as the Director of Infection Control at North Fulton Hospital, where he is responsible for overseeing infection prevention strategies and ensuring the safety of both patients and healthcare staff. His leadership extends to his role as Vice-President of the Infectious Disease Society of Greater Atlanta (IDSGA), where he actively contributes to the organization’s mission of advancing the field of infectious diseases through education, research, and collaboration.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Alam is passionate about travel and volunteer work, particularly with Distressed Child International (DCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children. His volunteer efforts reflect his deep commitment to making a positive impact both locally and globally, helping those in need while fostering a sense of community and compassion.
